Human mind is one of a kind creation by the God. Sometimes, out of nowhere, I get a brilliant thought to blog about. But sometimes (when luck is not on my side, duh!), I bite my nails off without any clue on what to write. Writing about any junk is not my way but at the same time getting creative ideas which are useful for others is not easy either. You can either turn your blog into news aggregator (duplicating each chunk of breaking news) or wait till proper idea strikes you.
Isn’t there any other solution?
Yes, my dear friend, there is. If you struggle to find topic ideas (professional writers call it Writer’s Block), don’t worry! There is a service called Skribit which is built exactly to solve this problem. The basic premise behind Skribit is very simple (as with any great idea) – you ask your readers for suggestion about what to write, readers will provide you feedback in terms of topic of their interest and then you can pick the topic you like and start writing! Simple, isn’t it? Since writer gets ideas to write upon and connect with readers, it’s useful for a blogger. At the same time, reader can drive blogger to write upon something which is really important to him, making him happy.
Benefits?
- It’s a Win-Win situation for both blogger and reader
- Plenty of topic ideas, no blank face
- Readers feel connected to the blog
- Readers get what they want from blogger, resulting in loyal following
- It’s FREE
What I need to do?
You simply need to create your account on Skribit. Skribit also supports login with twitter id or OpenID, if you have it. Once you register, you can get widget code which you can incorporate on your blog. Once you added the widget code on your blog, you will see a suggestion box just like the one you see on the left-hand side of this blog. When a reader clicks on it, a window opens in which he can enter his suggestion. The suggestions are listed in your Skribit account dashboard and you also get notified by email when new suggestion is added to your account.
How much does it cost?
Practically NOTHING! Skribit provides two types of account – Free and Pro. A free account is limited to single blog, maximum 15 active suggestions and anonymous suggestions. Pro account which costs $24.95 per year covers unlimited blogs, unlimited suggestions, suggestion moderation and tab widget customization. If you are not sure, you can start with free account, if it works for you, you can upgrade it later or else continue as it is.
What next?
Go sign up a free account on Skribit and add suggestion widget to your blog/site. Don’t just go by my advice, check it out yourself. I have already created a free account and installed the widget on my blog. Let me know what is your experience by leaving comments. Keep geeking! Oh, and keep suggesting!

Using user suggestions into ideas is a great way to improve your user experience and build a loyal followership, I get many suggestions through mails, but I rarely get the time to write posts on that, so from the past 2 months I have stopped getting such mails, this service you’ve mentioned will be useful for me and I’ll definitely opt to that.
