I was recently asked by one of my visitors “What exactly is your definition of a geek? What a geek is like?” “hmm, good question!” I said. This is one of the well-accepted tricks of trade when you don’t know the real answer. In reality, I never really gave it much thought. When I launched this blog, my definition of Geek was simple – any person who is expert in the field of technology, especially computers – is a Geek. But that’s a very broad definition. What are the qualities of a Geek? How do you identify a Geek?

I sat down, closed my eyes, pushed away all other thoughts from my mind, concentrated for about 2 hours and out came the words of wisdom! Here is the divine 15-point checklist which will help you find your way on the sacred path of Geekdom. Bless you, my dear!

1. Do you love solving puzzles?
   1. Yes, it gives me immense satisfaction
   2. No, it gives me shivers
2. Assuming you are in the middle of a natural disaster and can save only one thing, what will you save?
   1. Gorgeous girlfriend/wife, light of my life, eh!
   2. Computer, my love!
   3. Brand-new BMW, my beauty!
3. What do you drink to survive?
   1. Water
   2. Coffee ofcourse! is there any other kind?
   3. Diet Coke/Pepsi/Juices
4. What you are absolutely crazy about?
   1. Gadgets/gizmos
   2. Fashionable Cloths
   3. Books
5. What is your best way to kill the time?
   1. Sleeping, ahhh!
   2. Partying with friends, yieepppee!
   3. Writing software programs/finding hacks,tweaks
6. Do you love complexity and challenges?
   1. Yes, they energize me
   2. No, they give me goosebumps!
7. Who is your best friend?
   1. Google, it has everything a best friend ever needs
   2. The guy who sits next to me in the office
   3. Someone whom I met on Facebook
8. How lazy are you while using computers?
   1. I use keyboard mostly and some keys are with blurred alphabets
   2. I love mouse and use keyboard only when absolutely necessary
   3. I use them both equally
9. When at home, what do you do in your spare time?
   1. Watch television
   2. Read books
   3. What XBox, PlayStation, Wii are for?
   4. Do nothing
10. What is the one thing you hate about writing softwares?
    1. Meeting deadlines
    2. Writing descriptive comments
    3. Dumb-ass managers
11. What is your secret wish?
    1. To ask a cute girl working next to you on a date
    2. To have your manager sacked
    3. To own and run a big software corporation
12. What do you do at night?
    1. Sleep, you idiot!
    2. I like to work late at night
    3. I watch late night movies
13. You have an eye for microscopic details?
    1. Yes, people say so
    2. No, I think of a bigger picture
    3. I am not sure, I wear spectacles
14. How are your social skills?
    1. I know my team mates in office and we go together for coffee
    2. I am crowd favorite at parties, night-outs etc.
    3. I have a big following on Twitter, Facebook, Orkut, LinkedIn and what not, but I never met them
15. Do you blog?
    1. Yes, I actively run a technology/personal blog
    2. Pardon me?
