Unleash Your Creative Side With Flame

March 10, 2010

Are you tired of doing monotonous work? You want to do something refreshing and creative? Here is that something for you. Peter blaskovic has created a new online tool where you can create abstract drawings. The tool is called Flame and is free to use.

Flame Disc Shape
This nice little tool allows you to draw random shapes, curvatures, lines and patterns as you like. The user interface is really simple. By default, you are presented with black background and set of options at the bottom of the screen. The defaults are good enough and you can start drawing with you mouse or pen right away.  Flame provides us with range of bright colors and in fact, while drawing if you hold down your mouse  button for longer time, it smoothly change the colors. You can control options like size of the brush, softness, focus and center of the shape, saturation and opacity of color and so on. You can give subtle effects like Net effect just by changing focus parameter to zero and turning off Fill filter

Net Effect

or Starry Sky effect just by reducing opacity to 15, size to 51, focus to 85, softness to 100 and center to 35.

Color Star

You can use undo or eraser tool to clear out the changes you made. The most useful option is that you can easily save the drawing you created and save it to your local machine. When you click on save, the drawing is opened as a separate URL which you can save later. Even though the tool can be best used to draw abstract paintings, you can use it for almost any kind of drawing. Here is the rose I created with it:

Flame is developed as a Java applet and hence, can be run on any browser supporting Java applets. You can use it to develop cool jazzy shapes, fantasy abstracts or even fancy background for greetings. The only limit is your imagination. So let your imagination run wild and play with Flame for some time. I am sure you will soon get addicted to it just like I did. If you have created some cool images with this tool, I would like to hear from you. Keep Geeking!
